pi phi and gamma beta
by: HuhTwo of the houses on my list are Pi Phi and Gamma Beta but I’m always hearing that they are the weird girls that no other sorority wanted. I only got four bids left so I wanted to ask if any of that was true. I’m a petite girl and I did notice in both their volunteer videos I felt like I didn’t look the same. I also heard Gamma was on social probation what does that mean if I choose them? I only ask this because I had nice conversations with their girls but I’m starting to see some red flags. I also have alpha chi omega and zeta but they kinda seem stuck up and I can barely talk to them because they just want to talk about themselves the whole time.

yes they have some weird girls but that doesn’t mean all 200-300 are. every single sorority has some weird girls. also, gamma phi is not on social probation, they’re on conduct probation which doesn’t mean much - they can still have functions.
same goes for axo and zeta. some girls might be stuck up but that doesn’t mean they all are.
choose whichever house you feel most comfortable in! that’s where you’ll make the most friends. good luck!

Conduct probation means that something in their conduct was flagged and they got in trouble for it. You can look on the University website for what it was I can't remember. But I agree with the other response, every house has cool girls and weird girls you can't get away from that when you have 300 plus members. Instead of looking at their videos look around the room. Do you feel like you fit in when you're in the house? If you're having good conversations then I don't think you should count any house out. At the end of the day, compatibility is what it's all about. And listening to what other girls say about the houses isn't very accurate. All sororities talk crap about other houses to improve their chances of getting more girls to want them instead of the other houses. But that doesn't mean any of it is true. Trust the process!

Recruitment is such a hard process. The sorority girls are trying to impress you just as much as you are them. All of this is a giant production and it makes the whole process difficult at times.
First I recommend ignoring what anyone but your Pi Chis are telling you. Tent talk is NEVER helpful. You have women in sororities tearing each other down to make themselves more appealing and you have your fellow PNMs who repeat these rumors because they want to feel knowledgable and superior, but really don't know what they're talking about. And remember just because they didn't like a chapter, doesn't mean it's bad or wrong for you. Different people will fit better in different places.
Second, just try to focus on the conversations you're having in each house. Each round allows deeper conversations with more girls. Try to find people you connect with. That being said, like I said this is all a production and they're just as nervous as you are. Some houses are stellar at recruiting and other girls feel awkward and nervous talking to strangers and yelling in their faces. Its understandable and you'll find that out next year when you're behind the doors. Once the make up comes off and the Norts come on you'll find these girls are more relatable. There are 300 girls in each chapter. It's hard to meet them all at first, so it takes time to find your people. But once you do it's so worth it.
Keep being yourself and trust in the system. <3

At the end of the day you have to ask why you’re joining a sorority. With 300+ girls you will find your people in any house. Go with a sorority that has the same values as you. The one who’s philanthropy you can get behind. The girls who were interested in getting to know you. Once you graduate no one is going to care what tier sorority you were in.

No chapter is on any type of probation at this time. You can look at Sc.edu and look it up for yourself at any time.
Have this conversation of comparison with yourself at the end of round 3 rather than post it online and have someone else choose for you
