rushing

by:

So people keep saying that you should be open-minded and be yourself when rushing because sororities are looking for your character. But I don't really see how that all would work when in the first round you only have like 30 mins at a house and within those 30 mins, only small talk is possible. Does that make sense? Like, I just don't see how showing your character and truly being yourself can come into play when you're meeting someone for a very short amount of time.

It can and does come into play. You definitely have to make the most of the time you've got. Think about it, though. There must be times you remember when someone made a good or bad impression on you in a very short amount of time. Maybe it was their demeanor, whether they showed interest, made you laugh, smiled or were easy and comfortable to chat with. Obviously a sorority can't see all there is to see about you in first round, but you want them to see enough positive to invite you back so they CAN get to know you better.

It is similar to a job interview. Prepare, be honest, be yourself
And you’ll know if you click

Look sorority recruitment is like 80% looks. That’s the straight truth. I don’t care what anyone on here says and I won’t name any chapters but it’s very clear who is who on campus. With zoom especially, I promise u these girls stalk ur Instagram and are yes or no on u before you even talk. Don’t get it twisted.

My house does this. It’s the best way to get a glimpse into what PNMs are really like, what kind of people they associate with, etc since we can’t interact with them in person

1st round actives are instructed to trust their gut and not be super picky so if you were dropped it’s because they know their chapter and can get a feel for if you would fit in and you probably wouldn’t.
