blackballed for rush?

by:

So I'm from North Carolina. Obviously, there are a LOT of people from my city who are going to Charlotte. Well I just read on here that girls can be screwed over during rush because of there high school years??

Well I didn't have the best reputation in high school and I'm sure there are a number of people in sororities who have heard my reputation. it wasn't even like a godawful reputation, it was just probably a typical party girl rep. wellll anyways.. does this mean that when i'm being rushed, i can now be screwed in college? this is gonna sound ridiculous to a lot of you guys, but it's a legitimate concern. don't respond to this by saying YOUR NOT SORORITY GIRL MATERIALL OMMGG IT'S ABOUT SISTERHOOD. because the truth is that there is a laundry list of things considered when yall rush girls.

so i wanna know just how seriously you will take word of mouth ? like just because someone says that a PNM is a certain way doesn't necessarily mean she is that way? like she could just have a personal vendetta against that girl right?

please let me know! and if you're gonna respond to this by telling me all about how i'm going at rush the wrong way then SAVE YOUR BREATH. because i want a real response form this. congrats that you girls are holier than thou because you weren't blackballed during rush. but others have to worry about this very real possibility because we weren't the smartest in high school.

For some sororities, their recruitment process makes it very difficult for just one or two girls to “blackball” someone. It would take a larger percentage of the chapter to be saying the same things. On the other hand, some sororities, one or two girls can definitely say their piece and it would affect you. My roommate dated someone for years in HS and a girl from one chapter banned her, then banned me, via association (Roommate). I learned of this like a year afterwards from people involved with forming the rush lists

Just maintain a clean social media (no pics w drinks in hand, middle finger, etc) and carry yourself well! College is different than HS and reputations don’t have to follow you!

If you are sincere about wanting to start over, maybe put off recruitment for a year, behave yourself at parties, make friends with girls from your dorm who do pledge, get good grades (WHICH IS WHY YOUR ARE GOING TO COLLEGE, btw), and just be chill.
Then, see if you want to go through recruitment as a sophomore. There is actually a seperate quota for upperclass members (too long to explain here).
People change after high school. Let your change be for the good.

look, honestly if ur rep in hs was THAT bad that ur writing an essay on greek rank worried that ur going to get screwed over— yeah u might have something to worry about (at least with the top tiers).

nobody is perfect and everyone has ppl that don’t like them but if u built up a reputation where u think that it’s bad enough to affect rush it probably is. i’m sorry it’s definitely not the answer u want but it’s true. i was close with my exec board and there are plenty of girls who transfer or come in with horrible reps and u get blacklisted. if there’s even one girl in said sorority who DESPISES u enough to report u to exec it’s over.

also by u already having a lowkey attitude and pointing fingers in this post alone shows a lack of maturity. i’m not even saying this to be mean but if u want the honest truth from a complete outsider this post just looks bad.

if u have genuinely changed or made amends u shouldn’t be worried, if u haven’t then yeah maybe. ultimately whatever is meant to happen will happen sorry if it sounds harsh but i won’t sugar coat it
