sorority tiers
by: USC boundI'm a bit confused about all the talk of sorority tiers on here. Everyone says tiers don't matter and that every sorority is good at USC. But yet, y'all still rank each other by tier. What makes a sorority top tier vs. bottom tier? It looks to me like the top sororities are the ones that have been there the longest and the bottom ones are new.

It is confusing. Honestly, there is a tier system here. It depends on who you ask, but it usually goes like this:
Top Tier: ADPi, DDD, KD, ZTA
Upper Mid Tier: XO, AXO
Lower Mid Tier: DZ, Phi Mu
Bottom Tier: KKG, Gamma Phi Beta, AGD
The oldest ones are ADPi, XO, and I think DDD. And new ones do start at the bottom, but they can get better--Phi Mu only got here a few years ago and have improved through involvement. But some start bottom and stay there--like Gamma Phi (even though they're great girls). But here's the truth: pretty much EVERY sorority here would be top tier outside of the SEC. Because SEC recruitment is so competitive, even the bottom tier sororities here are honestly fabulous. So, when you hear people say tiers don't matter, they're partially telling you the truth. At the same time, though, there is definitely a traditional tier system here. Just being honest.

it is confusing going through Rush. You should focus on finding a sisterhood tho, not what tier a sorority is. Tiers don't really matter. You need to see where you feel comfortable. Anyway, you'll get 100 different opinions of who is top tier, mid, and bottom if you ask 100 different girls. It's really just a perception.

this tier system is just perpetrated by certain sororities (ADPI/DDD/KD) that are trying to keep the newer sororities from getting better. They really aren't any better than everyone else...they just want you to think they are. Form your own opinion when you go through rush.

change. a lot of the traditionally "top tier" sororities can't accept the fact that their pledge classes have be less than up to par lately..and that chi o and alpha chi have gotten amazing girls. kd is nothing special at all, they just have a top tier reputation for being old money and having a lot of southern girls, but they aren't really involved and there just kinda there. tri delt and zeta are also slipping FAST. probably solid mid tier now. phi mu is also getting a lot better and they got here in 2008.

adpi / ddd / zta are top now, but zta has been up and down a bit
axo / kd / xo - kd has fallen and xo / axo have gone back and forth, but have been very strong, despite still being below the top 2 or 3
kkg / dz - two of the oldest sororities here, have always ben good but just a step below the top. in the past, dz has been above kappa sometimes, it had slipped a little bit lately but is solidly back in it
phi mu - did amazing for a new sorority a few years ago and was pushing on the heels of kappa, even xo and axo, but now settling back as he beat of the new sororities.
yes, all houses here are good. there are a few houses that get nervous about slipping and get really aggressive on greek rank this time of year. there has definitely been some movement within it, but the top 6 has been (in ALPHA orde mr based on the abbreviations I’ve chosen to use): adpi / axo / ddd / kd / xo / zta... that really has t changed in recent memory.. ALL SORORITIES HERE ARE GREAT

ALSO, the “ddd and zta are slipping fast” is compete bu llsh it and happened every year. tons of girls want to be in those, which makes them competitive, which means they can be very selective.
I hate to point this out but the only top sororitiy that has actually arguably been slipping that has an agenda to say that about ddd and zta is kd.
