Try to get recs. for each sorority if you can. They let them know a bit about you ahead of time and distinguish you from all the other pnms. It can hurt you if you don't get them. However, if a sorority really, really, really likes you, they'll find an alumna in your hometown or someone to write a rec for you. Thing is...you don't want to make it hard for them to give you a bid.

If you are from a Charleston or Columbia, there are area Panhellenic alumni groups that can put you in touch with alumni for most of the chapters at USC. Also, if you can find just one sorority alumni, they will usually know women from other chapters. The person doesn't have to know you that well, but be ready to meet them in person to talk with them.
