rush

by: Norush

Cheerleaders and dancers were not allowed to rush because of a schedule conflict. I know several cheerleaders came to the orientation meeting but had to leave early to go to mandatory cheer practice. They received calls before the 1st round from their pi chi's telling them that they could not participate because they left the meeting early even though everyone involved knew that they had to leave early for practice. It seems the recruitment staff made no attempt to work with them. Is the Greek office at USC unwilling to work with students?

The Office of FSL at USC has become increasingly unwilling to work with students or even take their opinions into consideration. They're completely focused on pushing their own agenda and are creating a further chasm between the university leadership and the greek life organization leadership, diminishing any trust that had been formed in the past. The system is going to implode, it's only a matter of time.

It's true Usc Greek life is dying. The office doesn't listen to students and they don't do what's best

That should have been spelled out and prior to taking your application and money for rush. Their loss!

Obviously they would have but phi mu still got the best pledge class hands down. Definitely #1 now with no real competition

I heard one of the dancers quit the team so that she could rush...cheerleaders had mandatory practice the evening of the orientation meeting and tried to do both but received calls not to come to first round...they rushed in past years but not this year..the recruitment staff would not allow it! If you know of anyone who got around it I am surprised but good for them. Maybe COB or spring rush will be options but missed out on the rush process and getting to meet all of the girls in rush.

I know a girl on the carolina girls who got a bid and I also know 2 cheerleaders. None of them quit or skipped practice. So I'm not really sure where you're hearing the rumor.

when i rushed, my sorority had girls on the varsity equestrian team, and cheerleaders. there was one varsity sport that sometimes was allowed to rush and join, but we had one from that team that went all the way to us on bid day and then their coach supposedly showed up at the bid day party and took her away crying. we also had another girl on another varsity team, and one of her teammates was in another sorority (i don't want to say the sports because it may give it away).

it's a shame that the office of student life can't work with the cheerleaders and dancers, they aren't even varsity athletes. i understand to some degree the real varsity athletes, but i think even that is unfair. being a member of a sorority makes these already outstanding young ladies even more well rounded, and they sororities would love to have them.

We had a girl who did a varsity sport and her coach made her drop her sophomore year because a sorority took away time from the sport.
