why?

by: PNM

As a PNM I just need to know what is so bad about the bottom tier sororities? I get that people may not like them or think they are the coolest or prettiest. But they are humans and seeing the way people talk on this site is honestly turning me off from Greek Life all together. If people like the ones on this site actually exist in Greek Organizations then it is truly a shame and I know your founders would be so disappointed.

Honestly no one outside this website cares what sorority you're in or what "tier" you are. Guys aren't going to shun you if you're in a bottom tier. You need to find the house where you feel most comfortable and at home. When I rushed as a freshman I knew nothing about tiers and I put houses that were considered "top" on my drop list because I didn't feel comfortable there at all. If you fit in at a top tier house there's nothing wrong with that, I think some girls just think it's about joining the "best" sorority. Sororities are so big and diverse there isn't one universally bad or good one. No matter where you go in life you'll be able to network with all sorts of girls from your sorority

There really isn't anything wrong with "bottom tiers". Most have a good sisterhood, they all have functions, they all compete in Greek events, and if you're cute you'll still be invited to fraternity events. Tiers only matter to shallow people who want to feel like they're better than someone else. If you're looking for the right things in a sorority, just focus on which girls you get along with. For you that may be a top sorority. If not, don't be afraid if you get a bottom because in the long run you'll be happy.

No one is truly this way in person. People use the anonymity of this website to say nasty things about other organizations to make their chapter look better. Nothing is wrong with bottom tier, tiers don't even matter that much. The biggest thing to remember when going through recruitment is to find your home- somewhere you feel the most comfortable all around. There are different types of people in each organization, but you will find that place to call home if you just focus on values, conversations and what your gut/heart is telling you! Good luck and have fun with recruitment!

I wanted a certain top tier going through recruitment and felt I best fit there. When I got a bid to a bottom tier sorority, I rolled with it and I'm so glad I did! I can't even see myself being in that top tier sorority now, I definitely was not the right fit. Sticking with my sorority was the best decision I've ever made.
