rec letters

Are recommendation letters common here? Do they help or hurt PNMs?

In my opinion they don't really do much. I had a rec letter to two sororities and neither of them called me back after round 3. They just weren't the houses for me and that's ok. Unless you are a legacy, it's not that big of a deal

Rec letters aren't required but DO help your pre score/scores after that. Does it grantee you that chapter? No. But you don't want to be borderline and be dropped when your rec could have helped your score.
Also I know some will say "if you were border line and dropped then that chapter wasn't for you" but honestly there are multiple sororities I would have fit in really well (I love my chapter of course though!!!)
I'm just saying it can't hurt, it can only help.

If you can get them, do it! They cannot hurt and do make you more memorable if you do not have in house connections.
