fall rush fall rush transfer
by: .hi i’m an incoming sophomore transfer i hope to be haha! is it possible to do fall rush? I really rather not wait for the spring and I feel like I would be at a disadvantage i’m coming from smu and is it different? I didn’t like the rush process at smu is it slightly more laid back at leigh????

Post wasn’t clear if it was a guy or girl. But for sororities fall informal rush is very limited. Fall rush is typically done if numbers are needed but this year every house except for Aopi and Theta. There informal rushes all the time. I have never heard about aopi taking informal rushes. Houses sometimes take one or two girls in the fall but typically they are friends with people in the house and things like gpa prevented them from formal recruitment.

i am a girl! and yes i guess it would be smart to just wait till the spring. i just didn’t like how it was spring rush for smu too I feel like it makes it more difficult. i hate it here so much all my “friends” are fake and literally always ask why I didn’t rush freshman year. the south is crazy with rushing. i just want a school that has it but isn’t crazy about it like alabama and texas.

Yeah it’s definitely a possibility just be warned that a lot of houses don’t typically want to take sophomores. There used to be a sophomore quota but some of the top houses would treat their sophomore rushes like horribly so they got rid of the quota. I’d recommend following all the chapters on Instagram because they will post about it if an opportunity to COB arises. But something nice about Lehigh is that if you are a girl you don’t have issues getting into parties. You can make friends who are a part of Greek life and they can get you addresses or on the list if Lehigh is still going to do that(hopefully not). Anyways I’ve loved my Lehigh experience. The school is more than Greek life so I’m gonna be honest with you definitely don’t get your hopes up.

yeah southern greek life is nothing like lehigh. sophomores are at a disadvantage for rush at lehigh tho. you probs wont get a top house bc of that tbh.

I’d say definitely rush and add yourself to the COB list. Get out and meet a lot of people as soon as you can (not sure when we will be back to school). Mention to some people ur interested in rushing and see where that takes you! Be super open minded yet —keep in mind that if you were initiated to your sorority at your old school you may not be able to join a different chapter. Definitely a possibility you could get into any of the houses though!

Also our rush process is different from the south because being a legacy honestly doesn’t matter. Like even if your mom was in a sorority at Lehigh there is absolutely no guarantee that you will get into that house or that it will even help you.
