sister in a top house

by: Confused

My sister is in what is considered a top house. She will be a senior next year. I will be a freshman. She is well known in campus. She has promised me a bid at her house.
1. Can she do that? Really?
2. Could being her sister cause another house to drop me?

I want to rush with an open mind and of course I want the best fit to be in my sisters house. But if it isn't then it isn't.

Depends. It's rare for this not to go by your way. You said she's well known. Is it in a good or bad way? If it's in a good way and she's active in her house and campus. Then you should be golden. If it's in a bad way..... then absolutely it can count against you for all houses.

Being an in-house legacy does not guarantee you a bid. They typically invite legacies back to house tours as a courtesy but a bid definitely can't be promised. I've seen some in-house legacies been cut and others make it through but it really depends on your sister's reputation and also how YOU act during rush.

Thanks girls! She has a positive reputation and had already told me she would disown me if I acted up during rush :)

AOII is especially known for cutting legacies simply because they're legacies and they don't want to make it seem like being a legacy gives you a free pass. But if everyone there really likes your sister & she sticks up for you a hell of a lot during rush you should be fine.

Oops misread and thought you said AOPi for some reason, sorry bout that. But it's the same for most top houses regardless

I didn't say which house. We've been talking about sororities since the days of barbie. I know she'll pull for me but I'm keeping an open mind.

I don't think this post is real. Why would she come on the Internet to ask random strangers this question? If your sister is in a top house, wouldn't you have friends or family members to ask about this? You don't know if the people writing these replies even go to UGA at all…
