tri delt legacy / recs?

by:

I am going to UGA in the fall. DDD is HUGE in my family (mother, grandmother, sister and 2 Aunts lol). I have a 3.8 GPA and am a cheerleader with a good shot a cheering at the collegiate level. So recs for DDD are no problem and my family is really wanting it for me. My main question is what about the other houses? I'm going to have a really hard time getting recommendations for other houses and I want to give every house a fair shot. What houses are known for athletes? I do like to party/be social but it's not my #1 priority. If another house is a better fit would not have a rec be a problem? I don't care about tiers, I care more about the right fit. Any advice would be great!

@amanda you are the worst. I hope to the heavens I don't end up in your house. And if no house feels right I will be proudly independent. I want a sisterhood but I'll already have that with my team.

OK first off you would make a great addition to any house. Beyond that @Amanda just seems angry and probably doesn't go here or is some GDI troll. The house reputation does not represent the entire house. I admire the fact that you want to check it out but also you want to give all of the houses a chance that's why recruitment works so well. Maybe you should be open with your family about not being sure and get them to reach out to their friends for recommendations because they are important here.

AOPi seems like your best option! Good many cheerleaders and I've heard they don't care about recs

Recs are super important even if you don't know the person well who writes them. However, if you are the perfect fit for a house that you don't have a rec for, and they really want you in their pledge class, they can find someone on there end to write a rec for you so that they can still give you a bid.

Yeah but the chances of that happening are so freaking slim. She should just get recs. Then she'll know for sure she didn't get cut bc of not having a rec.

Sororities here don't care That much about recs. And You're only hurting yourself going into rush with one sorority in mind. Tri delt is a top tier sorority and they take top tier girls.

A lot of nationals require that a sorority have a rec for a girl before that offer her a bid, so a lot of sororities cut girls who don't have refs after the first round. But if a sorority really wants a girl, most of them can get her a rec from a loose connection. They usually have to really want the girl to make that effort though.

tri delt is not top tier
more of a lower top or upper mid but definitely not a top tier

@Eh

But realistically how many girls do we put in that much effort for? Not many at all at my house. Many more girls might have just made it through if they had recs. And then had an extra party to try to connect better with their rusher.

Not getting recs is like shooting yourself in the foot. Whether you survive or bleed out depends, but you shot yourself in the foot nevertheless.

@UGA Active. I agree that revs are important because I know at least with my sorority, we have a group who works to find recs for girls during recruitment, but we have to reallyyyyy want a girl in our PC for us to find her a rec if know one knows her. So they're important but if OP is a top tier girl, she still has a decent chance at some of the other houses if she absolutely can't find recs for them.

tbh you sound like a good fit for tri delta. the girls are sweet and not all of them arty but you can find someone to go out on a monday if you want or to go to bible study on monday. also theres cheerleaders and dancedawgs in the house

You NEED recs for ALL the houses.

My sorority REQUIRES a rec for EVERY girl we pledge. So it's an easy peasy way for us to cut girls. And believe me, we meet many more qualified girls than we have spots for.

If you're not going to go out of your way to get them then prepare to be dropped.

Completely agree! With such a huge number of PNM's going through, why wouldn't you invest the time and effort to stand out a bit? With a rec and a pic, it enables actives to at least see your face and recognize your name before you get to Athens. You have plenty of time! Get out there and do the work if you want it badly enough!!

Idk how tri delt looks at it, but some houses view it as desperate if you send in more than 2-3 recs for the same house. So basically try to get at least one for every house but no more than 3. You won't get a bid from recs alone, but they are important.

Thanks for all the great truthful answers. I've already contacted everyone I know for recs. So far I have at least one for houses I seem to want to want the most. Had a talk with my family and said I need to be totally open to be happy. While they all want that triple D on bid day, I want fun, social and SPORTY. SO WE WELL SEE.

So glad you're keeping an open mind! Also all the sororities here are social and fun! Zeta has a good many athletes/dance dawgs, but tbh you'll find that group in most of the houses here since they all tend to recruit those girls! As long as you are outgoing and have a good personality (and recs) you'll find where you fit in best!!
