tri delt legacy / recs?
by: Rushing in the fallI am going to UGA in the fall. DDD is HUGE in my family (mother, grandmother, sister and 2 Aunts lol). I have a 3.8 GPA and am a cheerleader with a good shot a cheering at the collegiate level. So recs for DDD are no problem and my family is really wanting it for me. My main question is what about the other houses? I'm going to have a really hard time getting recommendations for other houses and I want to give every house a fair shot. What houses are known for athletes? I do like to party/be social but it's not my #1 priority. If another house is a better fit would not have a rec be a problem? I don't care about tiers, I care more about the right fit. Any advice would be great!

OK first off you would make a great addition to any house. Beyond that @Amanda just seems angry and probably doesn't go here or is some GDI troll. The house reputation does not represent the entire house. I admire the fact that you want to check it out but also you want to give all of the houses a chance that's why recruitment works so well. Maybe you should be open with your family about not being sure and get them to reach out to their friends for recommendations because they are important here.
#4by: Recs
Recs are super important even if you don't know the person well who writes them. However, if you are the perfect fit for a house that you don't have a rec for, and they really want you in their pledge class, they can find someone on there end to write a rec for you so that they can still give you a bid.

You NEED recs for ALL the houses.
My sorority REQUIRES a rec for EVERY girl we pledge. So it's an easy peasy way for us to cut girls. And believe me, we meet many more qualified girls than we have spots for.
If you're not going to go out of your way to get them then prepare to be dropped.
#8by: Not sure about tri delt
Idk how tri delt looks at it, but some houses view it as desperate if you send in more than 2-3 recs for the same house. So basically try to get at least one for every house but no more than 3. You won't get a bid from recs alone, but they are important.

Thanks for all the great truthful answers. I've already contacted everyone I know for recs. So far I have at least one for houses I seem to want to want the most. Had a talk with my family and said I need to be totally open to be happy. While they all want that triple D on bid day, I want fun, social and SPORTY. SO WE WELL SEE.
