sorority letters of recommendation
by: rec
I'm an out-of-state incoming freshman going through sorority recruitment. How important is it to have letters of recommendation for each sorority? Do you automatically get cut if you don't have one for a certain chapter?
Also, will being from out of state hurt my chances of getting a bid?

I wouldn't say you get automatically cut, but not having a rec is also an easy cut. Let's say they don't really remember you and one other girl. The other girl has a glowing rec, and you don't have one. You'll probably get cut. However, if they love you and you don't have a rec it won't really matter. Also, being out of state doesn't matter at all!

Would you turn in a college application without references? A recommendation is a reference-it's just not required by panhellenic. Some sororities do require a recommendation in order to pledge a PNM . Why set yourself up with a disadvantage before rush even begins? Especially if you are OOS.
