transfer bid chances?

by: nervoustransfer

If I'm a junior transfer and get some recs, have a good personality, and don't drop during rush, will there be a chance that I could get a bid from ANY of the sororities? I don't care about "rank" just as long as there are great, supportive girls. Is it common for a lot of girls not to get bids or dropped altogether during rush? What are the houses that will automatically not consider me because I am an out of state junior transfer and which ones won't take that into consideration?

Can any of you give an idea of the personalities of each house like "academic", "social", "chill", "artsy" etc. Any advice would help, thanks!

Don't ask for reputations or anything just go meet them, be yourself, and see where you fit! Don't drop because all of the houses have great girls and if you put in an effort you'll be happy! Have a positive attitude and don't worry about the houses that drop you. There will be more cuts because of your age but it is possible! Also check into dphie, they're colonizing next year and will have their recruitment after formal bid day!

I'm not making decisions based on reputations. I just meant like if certain houses put more emphasis on academics, etc! I'm just afraid and don't want to try and go through rush week just to end up getting cut by everyone just because of my age cause I have a lot to offer and really would like to join one of these organizations :)

It sounds like you have a good attitude and that will take you far in recruitment! Every house is going to want outgoing girls who are great in all areas so try to stay busy and involved this summer. Also get a rec and try to have a close relationship with either an alum or an active. Recs/legacies are important but who is know in a house is even more important. Market yourself well on your resume and get a Rec for each house! Get in contact with a Panhellenic association where you live to ask for recs if you don't know anyone. Start asking now though, don't wait! Good luck! :)
