UGA Rush can be brutal. Feelings get hurt & things don't always go the way we hope; however, sometimes they do. It's not the end of the world if you don't get your first choice. Legacies get cut all the time. Some sororities just can't accept all the legacies-in some cases they just don't like them. Life will go on & the sun will rise.

As alums, we obviously know that all legacies cannot get a bid. However, you owe it to our sisterhood to at least make an attempt to get to know them. After all, they've heard positive things their entire lives about an organization that someone in their family supports and takes pride in. Forget the "old row" moniker, tradition has a foundation and if you can't honor tradition by at least giving a legacy one courtesy invite, then you don't understand the meaning. Of course all the PNMS have a lot to offer! However, if you don't honor legacies then don't have rec forms and don't bother with legacies at all. Its disingenuous, and in the long run it only hurts your organization by making you less exclusive, not more. Rush will become a free for all that no one wants to engage in if they have any self-respect.

Sick and Tired, I hope you're not yelling at my comments. If so you're missing the point. Courtesy invites, efforts to get to know the legacy..that was the point. No you don't have to extend a bid AFTER you determine she is not a fit. Do you not understand that we have done this process 3 times ourselves? No alum is fool enough to push their legacy toward something that is not right for them. The UGA PNMs are all excellent candidates, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten in UGA. One day you will be a grown woman and you will have a daughter. Only then will you truly understand that the comments you just made are self-serving and completely ignore the fact that we alums get a lot of mail from your national, asking us for money. Without that money, your chapter ceases to exist.

To all of the upset mothers on here, I am sorry. I don't know if there were as many girls or legacies going through rush when you were at UGA, but last year my chapter had 40 legacies and 56 was the quota.. If we took all of the legacies, then we would have only gotten to pick 16 girls out of like 1400. There wouldn't really be much point to all of the hard work and effort that goes into rush. I am sorry that your daughters were hurt and hope that they will find a good fit for thmeselves in another chapter. There are alot of great ones here at UGA.
