I agree with the stance against cyberstalking. However, make sure that you are defining cyberstalking properly. We all certainly have freedom of speech and with that comes the freedom to express our opinion. Personal attacks would include naming an individual but expressing and OPINION of a certain house is not cyberstalking or bullying.

I totally agree with the RE: Alum post. Many comments on this site could be considered "bullying" and "harassment." When did Freedom of Speech override common decency? When did hiding behind a "nickname" become a license to degrade others? When did our society become so mean and hateful?
I am so worried about what is happening in our society today. I thought one of the missions of Greek organizations and colleges/universities was to prepare members/students to enter the work force and teach them to give back to others, not to hide behind anonymous post that are mean, hateful, rude, disrespectful and in most cases false.
The Greek community needs to come together and stop this nonsense. We are only as strong as our weakest link. Together, NPC/IFC can survive, but if the sororities and fraternities don?t stop all this in-fighting, they are all going to be history.

Freedom of speech can be debated between attorneys, but freedom of speech does exist. People DO have a right to express their opinions as long as those opinions aren't threatening to another person or organization. I haven't seen anything on here like that. There is a lot of hearsay about things that several sororities may or may not have done. That is pretty common on college campuses. That is called gossip and it is not bullying. If your group has done something wrong, address that and stop coming on here making threats to people about obtaining their identities and such. Usually if you don't respond to comments you don't like, the comments will stop, but in the meantime, people do have a right to their opinion. Would it be better to make a comment and attach your real name, yes, it would be a sign of strong character. Is it illegal to make negative comments, NO. I know this from my line of work.

Whoever wrote the comments threatening people about cyberbullying, that is just wrong. Just because you don't like what someone has to say about your group, that does not give you the right to makes threats. I interned at a domestic violence program and believe me, cyberbullying bd stalking amounts to much more than what is on here. There are great groups at UGA, all with their strengths and weaknesses. Every sorority has good years and a few bad years mixed in. You learn from it and improve your chapter because of it. You don't make threats to others because you are having a tough time, at least you shouldn't. I hope all the sororities at Ga stay on campus and that eventually we'll get another one as enrollment increases.

Cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and harassment have multiple definitions. "Stalking" doesn't always involve a threat of physical harm. My posts clearly refer to TARGETED ATTACKS MADE WITH MALICIOUS INTENT ON INDIVIDUALS, and I stand behind what I posted. I find it ironically amusing and in perfect keeping with the spirit of this site that "Steph" is up in arms about a poster's true id being revealed but doesn't mentiona the young women (and men) who are constantly being dragged through the mud and humiliated in this public forum. If you get your jollies by posting on here about groups, I support that right. But whether you like it or not, or agree with it or not, there are legal boundaries when the focus moves from a group to an individual. What "Fed Up" posted is fundamentally true. It takes one correct thread to unravel the cloak of anonymity.

While I find this site a bit disheartening, there is no cyberstalking...etc going on here. I encourage all of you to keep from naming individuals. As far as individual chapters, there they are to your left. They have already been named by the site admin and the site was set up as an anonymous ranking site, so there is no wrong committed by doing that anonymous ranking. I just skimmed over some comments pointed out to me, comments that were supposed to be 'the worst' and honestly, people, move on. There are no 'targeted attacks' on this site. There is a lot of gossip about things that allegedly happened. And if you are in a house where these things allegedly happened, once you do something in front of others, anyone has the right to comment on it or tell about it in a private or public forum. That is not stalking and that is not harassment. You might wish you could shut someone up if they try to call you out, but in this form, the legal standard isn't there.

I just noticed that the commenter below me inadvertently or maybe purposefully revealed herself and her affiliation by responding directly to a comment on her chapter's page. I recommend against doing that, adding fuel to the fire, and instead, don't respond at all. Additionally, you mention 'women and men', please address your own issues only and leave the men out of it. As a former greek and supporter of my chapter here, our men can take care of themselves and they have been instructed not to comment. No one else should comment for them. You may not be referring to my chapter but it would still be best only to address yourself. The act of not responding and not commenting gives no indication of whether you have done the things that are mentioned. Your semi-threatening posts on here serve the exact opposite purpose. Check with your chapter advisers about whether they think you should comment on here or not.

This website needs to go away. Wake up kiddos - this country is in a recession and it's going to get worse. Students who are posting crap on this site need to focus on getting an education and giving back to the economy. Addults (like Attorney Alum) need to grow up and move on. All the greeks have issues but UGA has a good overall greek system. Stop the negative comments. Focus on keeping this country from going to hell in a handbasket.
