Questions for current sorority members

by: New student

UGA Incoming Freshman
Okay, so I am an incoming UGA freshman who is rushing sororities in the fall with little to no guidance. So I have a couple questions:

1.What is some genuine rush advice other than be yourself and have an open mind?
2.Is it true that the sorority date nights are all at bars and require Fake IDs for underage sorority members?
3.What are the genuine vibes of each sorority? I feel like every girl is going to put on their best face for recruitment and I'm worried I will get a fake assessment of each sorority.

Hi! Here’s some advice I wish I had received before rush:)

1. Connections matter a lot!! Especially if you are out of state, make sure you have a great instagram feed and follow back any girls who follow you, try and be active on social media so girls have a good impression of you (a lot of cuts are made early on based on very little information)
2. It’s not required to have a fake, but date nights are at bars so you will need one to get in. You can always borrow from a friend!
3. It all depends on who you ask, but most sororities are really good! There are a “bottom 3” that don’t have great frat connections and socials, but if you don’t care about that then go for any.

You don’t need a fake to get into the bars they will just draw an X on your hand or something. Socials are a different story

Ok i commented that as someone in a sorority who has been on not only my own date nights but many of my friends as well. You will need a fake at most date nights to get into the bars unless its a bar that has been told there will be people under 21 which is rare.
