Rushing from OOS
by: pnmHi all! I’m from OOS/far away and I’m planning on coming to UGA next year. Is it possible to still end up in an upper-mid/top tier sorority even if I don’t know anyone at UGA, not a legacy, etc.? I have a good GPA, resume & I’m pretty outgoing, I’m just worried my lack of connections will hurt me!

Some people think that gpa’s are all the same for incoming freshies. This is not true. There’s a difference between a 4.0 and a 4.6 and it can make a difference in your rank. Looks matter, but connections are important. If you have no connections, expect rush to be competitive.

It’s tough out of state unless you know girls currently in sororities here. Most people at uga are from Georgia and have connections. If you are out of starte without connections you are definitely at a huge disadvantage for a top sorority. A mid tier sorority is totally doable though and they usually have more oos girls.
