Fraternities to avoid

Visit this summer and go to as many rush events as possible. Find the place you feel most comfortable. It doesn’t matter if it’s considered top, mid, or bottom if you are happy. There’s a place for everyone. Good luck.

UGA itself is a little self selecting and Greek life is even more so. You will have a great social life at almost all places. There are so many more women at UGA than men that if you are halfway normal you'll find yourself invited to all sorts of sorority functions. I didn't rush till I got here and pledged a solidly mid tier fraternity and have gone to multiple "top 3" sorority date nights, formals and semis.

Don't stress about it. Just go through rush and see who you like. That's what I did and it has worked out well.

Fraternities as they exist now are facing a crisis. Only 11% of students come to our campus interested in joining a fraternity. This declining interest has coincided with the fact that members of fraternities are far more likely to drink in excess than the average student. Because our SigEp chapter has a substance-free policy, we recruit better candidates and have stronger manpower than other fraternities chapters that are regrettably still beholden to illegal and dangerous drinking. SigEp is modeling a new way and new future for other fraternities here to follow.
