Rushing as a POC SUCKED

Luckily I ended up finding a brotherhood that I'm happy to be a part of but rushing absolutely sucked.
I'd get dropped while the weirdest white kids would somehow end up getting bids. It was absolutely crazy how these "higher tier" frats would be able to forgive the fact that a guy was 5'0 with an inability to socialize if he was white but we'd be getting dropped even after socializing well with other brothers and having a good time for no apparent reason.
It seemed like the criteria were completely different for white people and poc. The poc were all competing for the one or two token spots and had to be practically perfect: athletic, good-looking, charismatic, probably in Wharton. While white guys were getting bids in groups.
It was a crazy and stressful experience. Probably one of those moments in my life that I really felt ashamed to be a minority. But I've learned from it and moved on.

So fraternities like SAE, KS, KA, PKA, SN, AGR and PKP weren't founded on southern confederate principle's? Including the principle of slavery? They also don't have any prevailing ceremonies or beliefs that stem from that right? Ok...........
I LOVE greek life, BUT the racial bias i have seen has forced me into believing that greek life and brotherhood aren't based off of character, but rather how you look.

Black fraternities and sororities were absolutely founded because they were not allowed in white organizations. Your ignorance in saying otherwise is pretty shocking. Are you sure you got into UGA?

I personally made sure that i brought good friends of whatever race out to my fraternities rush. Younger guys in the fraternities now a days actually dont mind bidding and initiating minorities, they just want chill guys who they can bond with over the next few years and possibly even the rest of your life depending on your experience.
Its the wealthy donating alumni who have REALLY outdated views on brotherhood, race, race relations, etc. Hopefully older ceremonies of some of these older groups will stop as well... It's not the 1800's anymore.

NPHC frats and sororities are very accepting of all backgrounds as long as the people joining are aware of the cultural significance of why the divine 9 was founded. There are plenty of non POC members in NPHC Greek life.
