Rushing from up north

Planning on attending Georgia next fall. I’m from Indiana, and my cousin who recently graduated told me fraternities aren’t so open to people from up north. How true is this?

Not true at all, yeah not every frat has Northerners but I know multiple in a couple of the top houses, you’ll be completely fine don’t let that stop you from coming here at all many boys still get into good houses

ChiPhi is old row and almost exclusively from up north. Specifically Philly and DMV.

SN has some northern guys, so does SX PDT.

I don't think being "Northern" itself will be your issue. While UGA has "open" rush for several days in August, the better frats start rush in Spring or Summer long before that week. If your cousin knows guys in fraternities, ask him or her to contact those guys and give them your name and phone. You want to try to come down for Spring parties and meet some guys then. Just showing up for open rush it is really tough to receive a bid from the better frats.
