Cob in the spring?
by: QuestionWhat is cob usually like in the spring?? I really want to be in a sorority, and at this point in the fall I don’t think I’m going to get a cob, so what are the options during the spring?? I would love to join a sorority in the spring and I don’t want to rush again in the fall lol

COB in spring is not a week of events organized by panhellenic like fall rush. There is not really a spring rush week for sororities. Chapters that go under House Total Membership, after fall graduations or drops or whatever, may offer bids but they don't have to. It is up to each individual sorority how they COB or if they COB at all. Usually what happens if a house has only a few openings is that they just offer bids to girls they already know on the DL; they don't hold events or make any announcements, they just do it and if you're already on their radar with friends in the house they might consider you. If a house wants to fill more than a few spots then they may hold some invitation only events. Fall rush offers more opportunity by far to get a bid.

COB is a little different from spring rush. Spring rush events are a lot more chill, and focus more on hanging out and having fun, laid back events with semblance to MGC rush. They may have events catered to philanthropy like card making and stuff, but typically its just really chill. COB is what happens after bid day, its short for continuous open bidding

DG, AGD and Dphie almost always do, Gamma Phi usually does on the DL, DZ did two years ago or so. Alpha Phi did the past few years. It really just depends on the year and how many girls drop through the fall

Usually there will be a form to fill on the panhellenic website around the middle of fall semester! Sororities who are interested in COB members will get your email and email you if they are having events/are inviting you to events. This email is usually sent out at the end of fall semester. Also talk to any friends that you have/make in sororities! They may be able to get you into their spring COB stuff because they'd love to be your sister!

They try hard not to advertise it but they do spring COB every year. APhi already had a few new members drop after bid day so I’m sure they’ll have spots available

One of the usual ways would be to try to connect with members in your classes, but nowadays idk...

Not quite. Any bid given outside of formal fall rush is COB, from right after bid opening on bid day to the next formal rush in fall. The term 'spring rush' implies a mini version of fall rush, but it's not at all. @COB stated it correctly. There are not really events unless a house is trying to take more than a few people. Your chances of a bid outside of formal rush are best if you have friends in a house who will pull for you. Fall rush gives every pnm a chance to visit every house, large numbers of bids are given depending how many pnm's participate in pref round, and new members are in a large class of other new members all together.
