old row sororities being top?
by: confusedi’m so confused why old row is so prestigious. not hating but is there any reason besides them being the first sororities here? coming from in state i’ve always heard aopi kd zeta and tri delt are the “top tier” houses but ppl on here say xo theta phi mu adpi and kappa(?) are top. usually private school girls go old row from what i know. just can someone explain

think of it like clothing designers. gucci, hermès, etc. are all pretty much so popular and famous because of their history and notoriety for being the best and being around forever during that time. that’s old row - always good and highly prestigious. new row is similar to more recent designers that are still sought after but in a different way. definitely less prestigious in terms of reputation overall but still really good but different. old row is private school, connections, really wealthy pretty girls. but new row is super cool, out of state, pretty girls who may not just have any connections. don’t mean to be offensive but i feel like this is kind of a way to explain it.

There are plenty of out state girls in Old Row. Connected girls from Texas, Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga, Columbia etc.... all end up in Old Row houses.
But I agree, Old Row really is about connections, old line families, where your parents went to school, who they know and legacies. More prestigious, yes. Better? That is in the eye of the beholder.
