It kinda seems unfair! I too will be rushing at UGA and I don't know a single person there. I have a good GPA and am involved in activities at my school, and I'm very outgoing! I hate to think that I wouldn't receive a bid due to lack of connections :( Are there really sororities that won't take you without connections? Can a "connection" be made during rush while you are talking to girls, or is that not enough to get you a bid? Your thoughts please...

Yep I know but I want to make an informed decision. I don't want to be trying to decide last minute.. I want to have everything ready so I can enjoy summer. I would really appreciate if someone could offer some advice or answers to my questions!

I am not trying to be rude but there is nothing for you to "decide." It's not like you can pick over the summer which sorority you want. The sororities get to pick you, you do NOT get to have your pick of all of them.

...I meant make an informed decision on whether or not to rush. I want to decide in plenty of time so I can get my recs. If it's looking like I don't have a good chance then I don't want to get my hopes up and go through with it. Thanks though .

So, you mean to tell us, that you will not rush if aopi won't give you a bid? That's kind of crazy / the type of attitude that won't get you bid from them. Realize that they are a possible top choice, but not the only choice. There are many others that might in fact fit you better.

I'm pretty sure I never said anything along those lines. When I was commenting about if I had chance, I meant to any house. I guess I should have made that more clear, sorry. I've been looking at all of the different sororities websites and they all seem to be filled with awesome girls. I'd be happy to receive a bid from any of them! There were just a couple (KD & AOPi) that stood out to me and I wanted to find out how selective they were. If I decide to rush, I will keep an open mind and I think I will be happy wherever I end up (if i receive a bid.) I think you may have misunderstood what I was asking, and I apologize if you got the wrong idea about me and my intentions. I do not appreciate your nasty comment based on your assumptions.

I had NO Greek connections at all. My mom face booked some friends and I got one rec letter from Zeta. Put your name out there (randomly introduce yourself through mutual friends, facebook, etc.) the sororities will then take notice of your interest and figure out if you'll fit in there, or not. I went through rush and was actively recruited by AOPI, ADPI, ZETA, CHI O. After prefs, I decided on Zeta, got a bid, and am happy there. Don't make a premature decision. I waffled throughout rush as to which house I liked. They will check out your FB page, grades, etc. Even though I'm in Zeta, I have tons of friends in other houses. I can't say a bad word about any of the other houses! Just go with what feels right. Good luck!
