Does Legacy Matter

Not at all. Legacy never gets you a bid or guarantees anything. It might get you carried over to the first invited round out of courtesy but a lot of nationals have dropped that requirement so that is happening less and less now. If you get as far as pref at your legacy house, then you will get that bid if you rank them first, so there's still that. But there are too many legacies around these days for it to be practical to continue the early round courtesies.

AOPi, Alpha Phi, DG, and Theta have all gotten rid of their recruitment legacy policies
I haven't heard confirmation about KD or Zeta, but it's possible that they have too

Yes, I was a double legacy to aoii and got cut after round 3 two yrs ago. I was a little bitter at first because I knew that if I'd made it to prefs then I was guaranteed a bid. But after being on the other side now, I can honestly say that I understand why we can't honor legacies anymore. For many houses there are just too many. I ended up in another house where I found my best friends so I forgive aoii and its still a great sorority.
