Diversity in sororities/ not getting a bid?
by: First-Gen IndianHey! So, I'm part of a racial minority and would like to participate in UGA's rush. However, I don't want to spend a ton of money for rush just to not get into a chapter based on something I can't control: my appearance/ skin color. I just want to know what the diversity is like at UGA and how open and welcoming the girls are! Thanks!

I’m a minority in on and I’ll tell you how they treat poc when we rush bc the girls don’t understand it firsthand. If you don’t have connections you can kiss an old row or tops tier goodbye. They judge base on appearance and how long they think you’ll stay in the sorority. So if you look like you will not be able to pay you're probably getting dropped for a round from a house. It’s also based on where you’re from. Kappa takes a lot of out of state but they are old row. Remember a lot of people’s friends are coming through and they have have them on their bid list already or they maybe a top girl in another house. So that already gives you a hard time. But u may get left with house tours with agd, pi phi, dphie, alpha phi, and dg. Those are the sororities that have the most POC. To the girls on here I’m not being mean AT ALL!! I just don’t think y’all understand how poc feel when they get told “there’s a place for you!!” When in reality there’s a few places for us where we’re tolerated. That’s “for us.” If you want to get into a more top house wait to rush sophomore year where girls can get to know your personality and hobbies more if you strike a friendship with a sorority girl. But fall rush is just based on who you know, what school you go to and where ur from and a 5min convo. Again, I’m not being mean in any way I just don’t want her to be shell shocked at the end of rush and think she has to be pressured to go where she doesn’t belong just because those were the houses that were left. Also I don’t want her to feel sad after she get dropped from a house who didn’t want her and see all the girls who got into houses they want.
