gluten allergy on the meal plan!

by: glutenfreedawg

So I wanna rush next year, but I am wondering how sororities work with gluten allergies on a meal plan. I really wanna be in a sorority, but I also don’t wanna be stuck going to the house on a mandatory meal plan I’m paying over a thousand dollars for just to not be able to eat anything. Or just a salad everyday. Do they make you stay on the meal plan if you have a severe allergy? Do they provide gluten free options for meals? I feel kinda bad cuz it’s a big group setting to cook for. But at the same time, I feel like a lot of sorority girls would have a gluten allergy so I could be accommodated. But idk please let me know, I really do wanna join

You pay to play, sounds like you need to bag your lunch.

This sounds like a question for each sorority individually

Chefs should be trained to accommodate your issue. You can always work directly with him or her to ensure that there are options for you at each meal and that they understand how to not contaminate your food. If they don't know then you are doing them a favor by teaching them. Sometimes they will buy special things to keep around just for you. It is your job in life to be vigilant about the food you consume.

I also have a gluten allergy! In my sorority they didn’t make me pay for the meal plan even though I lived in the house! I just bought groceries and ate out.

It is not a stupid question. People don't want to be forced to pay for a meal plan that they can't eat.

I definitely think it depends on the sorority. I know mine provides gluten free and vegetarian options at every meal but I'm not sure if that applies to every one.
