why a friend of an ex follows you, then unfollows

Why does a friend of an Ex follow you on insta almost a year later when you are already public, then you follow back and then a month later they unfollow you??? What's that about?? They also used to follow when we were a couple and then unfollowed right away when we broke up.

People just like to cause trouble and social media is a waste of time. Stop reading into things too much. Maybe they just wanted you in their feed and they decided later it wasn't worth the bother or they don't care about you.
