don’t want to rush now

don’t believe everything on this website. So many OOS girls get bids. It may not be old row or whatever, you can still get a solid and decent house! I’d say go through it, and if you don’t see yourself @ any of the houses by pref, you can drop from recruitment. That way, you can still get an idea of what it’s like if you decide to rush again your sophomore year.

I'm from out of state and I didn't know anyone at UGA. It is a big adjustment in many ways. I hope you get a roommate that you like. I was lucky in that regard. I got recs for most of the sororities and two for some. They didn't seem to matter. I ended up happy with the sorority that I got, but I was cut from a lot of ones that I "thought" I wanted. I'm not a legacy. Rush was a lot to deal with, but I also made friends that ended up being in a variety of sororities on the bus during rush. Joining a sorority helped me get to know more people, but I also have some amazing friends that are not involved in greek life. I think it helps you get involved with campus and meet more people. I am from a state handles a lot of things in a different way from Georgia. In case you don't know this (because I didn't), freshman go out to bars downtown a lot, which was a new experience for me. You will figure all of that out later. Be patient with yourself, it takes a while to find YOUR people and to feel like you MATTER to people, but it will happen. Those people may live near you on campus, come from a sorority, or somewhere else. GOOD LUCK!

Look up the girls online and chapter lists, officer lists. There are lots of out of state girls in each chapter, in some ways, they are a little bit exotic. Definitely do not let this silly site influence your decision.
