what happened to phi delta theta

by: Wondering

I will be a freshman in the fall. My mother tells me that in the mid 1980s Phi Delt was right behind SAE, Chi Phi and KA. What happened to them? Was it all just moving from Lumpkin to the new location? Why did they fall?

This is a great questions for some of the guys who have been around longer. I have met some solid Phi Delt guys. Phi Delt isn't bad. I'm sure they have cool events too. I think some of the other groups just have had stronger rush recruitment maybe. ATO, Fiji, & SNU have brought in some great dudes, have great socials & strong philanthropy. They all have a tight brotherhood and know how to throw a party. I'm sure Phi Delt can offer that too. You need to go meet the guys.

Phi Delt is fine if you like them. You do really need to go visit different frats and see which one fits for you and your personality. Good luck.

They’re with Sigma Chi and Delta Sig right behind the three groups you mentioned (ATO, FIJI, SNU). Still a very good option when rushing just not a top house like in the 80s.

Don’t worry about which fraternity is the “best”... that is all just subjective nonsense anyway. Too many people listen to what their mommies and daddies say about their glory days here back in the 80s. Some of the “best” houses have total losers or just plain weird inbred guys (and girls) in them. Some of the bottom tier have really great people. There are a lot of very good fraternities at UGA where you can have fun and meet people of ALL types. Just do what feels right. Since you are asking about Phi Delt, they are really good guys!
