what exactly makes old row...old row?

by: Question

My particular question pertains to fraternities. Are KA, Chi Phi, SAE the only Old Row fraternities at UGA? Why? Is it because they are the oldest? Will any other organization ever be considered Old Row?

Yes bc they are the oldest. They also have the reputation of being the elite. Truth is they may not be for you and you certainly may not be for them. Fiji not old row but better in so many ways in my opinion.

Old row frats are the oldest fraternities and full of wealthy people but not necessarily the most attractive or most wholesome .

alumni of sae and those fraternities probably are in the UGA administration

those fraternities first founded at the University of Georgia, then:

SAE (1865),
Chi Phi (1867),
KA (1869),
Fiji (1871),
Phi Delta (1871),
Sigma Chi (1872),
Sigma Nu (1873),
ATO (1878), and
Delta Tau (1882),

should all be considered Old Row.

Old Row at UGA is any fraternity established during reconstruction in the South (1863-1877)

It’s a nomenclature that was borrowed from University of Alabama where certain chapters chipped in for large parties. It means nothing here at UGA
