l heard they aren’t having any open events. Maybe they’ll start contacting girls soon?

That's just a rumor started by alpha phi's trying to make themselves sound all selective lol. They need to take 50+ girls at least this spring to get close to chapter total, so they will almost certainly be having open events.

They don't have to get to chapter total. They have the ability to be selective.

while they technically don't have to get to chapter total (panhel's not going to kick them off campus for being under, and they may not have a national rule that says they need to COB any time they're under total like my chapter does), but I highly doubt their nationals would be pleased if they were super far under total. I have 0 idea how far under they are, so this is entirely speculation, and they're just starting out so it's not like this is a downward trend, but there have been many cases of chapters being shut down for low membership. Not to mention how expensive it is to float the dues of missing members when you have low numbers. Again, they haven't been on campus nearly long enough to freak out about them hitting total, but hitting total is always the goal.
