TKE is the biggest fraternity in the world and have produced some of the best in the world, example Ronald Regan. People need to stop hating.

TKE has the second most chapters behind Kappa Sig, and still only have something like the 8th most undergraduate members, despite having nearly 100 more chapters than some chapters with about the same number of undergrads.

give it a rest. from Kappa Sig's site-"Kappa Sigma has over 15,000 undergraduate men on over 300 college campuses, Wikipedia also puts them at 305 and 16,000 which links to their site and publication. Regardless, TKE has 10,800 undergrads which puts them at number 8 in undergraduate members even being number 2 in chapters, and they have a pretty small average chapter size (about 37, Pike with the largest average chapter size is 68). Not trying to bash TKE but this list isn't good.

You forgot to include Sig Ep, which is the largest undergraduate fraternity in the US, consisting of 15,400 members and hosting the largest Biennial Conclave's in the US, consisting of an endowment larger than $10 million.

SX is currently 15,700, Kappa Sig is now listed at 17,500 with 316 chapters. By my count that makes Sig Ep number 3, and Kappa Sig seems to be running away with it size wise.

NPC is not a ranked list lol, and not to mention you forgot one. No one said they weren't good both were ranked well on that list (Alpha Phi was in the top 10), but at the same time you selectively choose criteria that agreed with you. It's pretty obvious that founding date has a weak correlation with current status. Founding the NPC doesn't say much about the sororities strength although those are strong. Really the philanthropy numbers were the only that are terribly relevant, and that's still a pretty narrow thing to look at.

I think the points I chose are huge factors in determining a sororities "ranking" on a national level. money plays a huge factor, can't deny that. Money plays a role in adding chapters, improving chapters, philanthropy, events, recruitment etc..

your number for TriD is so damn wrong its pathetic, my sister is a TriD and she works hard philanthropicly. TriD has raises 25% of all money donated within the greek system each year and "Since 1999, Tri Delta has raised more than $16.7 million for St. Jude." Im really proud to be a Kappa, but ill admit that she works way harder

everything in the south is different! houses that are well known here really aren't known in the midwest and west coast! Also funds say a lot about how a house is nationally. The more funds, the more a sorority can do on a national level.

By: @above
by: Except

that's the philanthropy numbers through the national foundations, not the chapters funds, and they don't at all account for individual chapter contributions which are larger, and overall it was the only real criteria even mentioned. Some like KD, Phi Mu, and ADPi aren't that big outside the South, but others like Zeta, XO, DDD, and Kappa are big in the South as well as other regions. Gamma Phi and APhi are regionally strong just like KD and Phi Mu, and honestly the Southern Greek systems are stronger than anywhere else, so I don't know why Gamma Phi or APhi who are regional to the West Coast/Midwest should be above KD or ADPi who are regional to the South/East Coast.

As anyone can see from reading this thread, there is no national ranking. Anybody who goes to a different school, especially if they're in a different region or even conference, is going to disagree about your choices. So... stop worrying about it. Your house is fine even if no one from two states over has even heard of it. Just have fun and stop worrying.

The whole idea of national tiers is ridiculous. RIDICULOUS!

AOII is now the largest NPC sorority nationally. Just look at this sites info. They passed XO.

If you want an objective way to rate houses nationally do it by size. Greek rank has it done for you under the ranking tab. I bet you will be surprised...

By: Do it by size
by: ^

The sorority one is the one that surprises me, the fraternity one is almost exactly what I'd expect, although it'd be more accurate by undergraduate members than number of chapters in my opinion because it shows the relative average chapter sizes which is important too. Pretty sure it would still be the same top 10 at least on the fraternity side, but TKE would drop to something like 7 and the order would rearrange. TKE should be two by chapters now, not one. Still feel like there are more factors at play than just size, but I suppose purely objectively that's the only way to do it. Based on multiple factors I think several of the lists on the first page aren't bad.

Some sororities being listed are very prevalent/widely known, but I would not consider them as good as sororities who try to put chapters at lots of strong schools & are selective. For example, XO is being called a "national powerhouse" but they will put a chapter any damn place! Same goes for DDD, AGD, Dz, Sk, and to a lesser extent phi Mu, KD, & zeta.

I think top houses nationally are: ADPi, DG, Alpha Phi, Pi Phi, KKG, Theta, and AOPi. They are picky about where they will place a chapter.
