kd and alpha phi

I've seen this criticism other places too. That they didn't bid up to total. I don't see why this is a bad thing. If they didmt have enough quality girls to bid up to total, why would they give bids to girls who didn't meet their standards? Honest question. It seems like quality over quantity would be important when you're starting out.

It's a bad thing because they will have a mortgage to pay for next year, as well as a budget to build. It's expensive to run a chapter. If you're running on a much smaller budget than the majority of the chapters, then are you are at a real disadvantage. Also, most national offices require chapters to be at campus total or average chapter size bare minimum. They are way below this and will have to COB all year. When you don't have a chapter house to have women over to for lunch, events, etc it gets expensive. It's all about the money.

They don't need to rush to get to total. Expect total to decrease over the next few years. Quota was so high this year due to the size of the freshman class this boosting chapter avg and total. Admissions won't be making that mistake again.

As long as their chapter is over 120 or so, they will have plenty of funds fron chapter dues (from a financial sheet that was shared). Their new house will be financed with assistance from their national housing corporation and chapter bond from the members. One the house opens, rent should cover mortgages. You finance majors can run an amortization table on $3-$5M loan financed over 30 years with 54 members living in the house.

Their challenge will be group cohesion, team and leadership development, Greek community relations, improving scholarship, and recruitment. If they can build all that with a strong foundation, then they will fine.

I wish the haters would stop with the hate. Give them a chance to development and grow and enjoy being new and form their own traditions and reputation at UGA.

Please!!! Stop being so threatened by a new house. UGA is plenty big enough to handle it, there are more than enough valuable, intelligent and yes beautiful women for each house. Sighhhh has it totally on point. Stop with the hate, as fellow Greeks we should be here to welcome them and wish them all the best because each one of those women is now one of US and that's what matters.

This may be hard to believe, but not all people that post positive things are Alpha Phi. Who is to say posters are female? Or Greek? or UGA alumni/alumnae? Maybe posters are national board members of an OR chapters? This is an anonymous site. Too bad - I wonder how much negative posting would occur if you had to register and post who you were....

How about giving all the sororities a chance? There's a lot of venom on this site spread out among all the groups. (OR vs NR, tier break-down, going after particular pnm's like DC from KD, etc). I thought being Panhellenic was about building up women, not breaking them down.

A new chapter can only be a good thing for everyone, so the only reason to bash is insecurity. Get over yourself, there is QUALITY everywhere on campus, those QUALITY women will find their houses easily enough without people like you.
