Most fraternities' pledgeship lasts around 6 weeks with a few going to 8 (unless you are an SAE or SigEp). In the spring, generally there are fewer pledges and it is not as bad or lasts as long as the fall. As for grades, except for a few guys, most people's grades were not any worse really, and our pledgeship was one of the hardest. Guys in the fraternity care about you having good grades because it makes the chapter look good, and they get better football seats so they make sure you study. You can also get out of doing things if you have to do something for school right before a class or something.

6 weeks is normal
But honestly even that is going away.
SAE and SigEp have ended pledgeship totally.
And KA, Phi Delt, Sigma Nu ect all have weak "development programs" just like what SAE/SigEp had before they did away with it totally.
If any national fraternity has a pledge program in 10 years I'll be shocked.
Even the hazing now is weak.....push ups and sit ups....that kind of thing
