should i rush

by: ?

I don't drink alcohol for religious reasons. Would there be a place for me in any chapters or in UGA sorority life at all? I am debating signing up for rush because I'm interested in the close friendships and events/philanthropy, but not if I can't find people who would support me and my choices.

I'm asking because I'm aware that this isn't a topic that is appropriate to talk about during recruitment. Thank you

Even though the majority of people at UGA drink (whether in Greek life or not), there is absolutely no obligation to drink if you're in a sorority. There are girls in my chapter who didn't drink or who waited until they turned 21, and they still have tons of friends in the chapter and have a great time at our socials and other events! Just don't be that person who makes a big deal about it and constantly talks about how you don't drink and it shouldn't be an issue at all. Also you can still go to socials and date nights at bars. They're a lot of fun whether you drink or not and you don't have to use a fake ID since it's a private (18+) event!
