personalities of pledge classes

by: Curious

I'm a pnm and would like to know how likely is it that the girls I meet at each chapter during rush will actually be the same type of girls that I have in my pledge class (assuming I get a bid)? Like do the personalities of each chapter accurately transfer to the new pledge class each year or does each year's pledge class have a totally different vibe. For example: if I really love a sorority and feel like everyone I talk to there is super fun, chill, kinda hipster/artsy types, will that chapter get the same kind of girls this year, or is the a chance they could get a pledge class full of preppy, academically focused girls who never party?

I just want to know how much weight to put on my impression of the type of girls in each house since there's no way to know who will actually be in my pledge class until bid day, but the girls in my pledge class are the people I will most likely be the closest to.

Hey! I'd say that the chances are pretty high. PNMs who connect with personalities in a specific house will generally rank that house (or houses) high throughout rush, and will likely end up in a chapter where they felt they meshed with the upperclassmen. A PC with "super fun, chill" members is probably more unlikely to attract "girls who never party." But keep in mind that with pledge class sizes of around 70, there will be plenty of different types of girls in your chapter. All in all, however, the vibe you get during recruitment will likely reflect the girls who will be in PC 16. If you need more clarification on specific sororities, your Gamma Chi will be a great resource!

Pref round will help you figure that out a lot! At each house you pref at, try to talk to the other PNMs while y'all are waiting for the round to start. Look around to see if you see a trend with the type of PNMs preffing at each sorority. Many of them will be there on bid day, so if you feel like you could envision some of them as your sisters, then that's probably a good house for you. Also like Dawg said, with 70+ girls in each pledge class, you'll have people you like and don't like no matter where you end up.
