girl in a wheelchair have a chance at getting bid

by: Curious

Hi, I'm just curious of a girl with physical disabilities would have a chance here at actually getting a bid here?

Yes!! As long as the girl was sweet, involved, has good grades, etc. she'd be warmly welcomed to Greek life at uga!! Basically she'd have the same requirements as every other pnm going through rush to wind up with a bid I don't think her being in a wheelchair would hurt her chances at all.

Are all houses wheelchair accessible? I honestly don't know. Could a girl in a wheelchair even get in all of the houses? I would hope so!

It probably just depends on who you talk to at each house. There was a girl who rushed last year than had a guide dog with her because she had narcolepsy. Panhellenic made everyone aware of the situation and told everyone to treat her normally, but I think making a big deal about it before recruitment like that had the opposite affect because she got released from every house.

I'm pretty sure she's in AOII now so she didn't get released from every house like you said

Inaccurate, she's in AOII and had 3 houses for pref because she's the coolest girl. Her struggle didn't hold her back and houses love strong girls like hat.

Were there two girls then? Because I'm Facebook friends with a girl who rushed and has narcolepsy and got cut from everywhere... Maybe she didn't need her guide dog during recruitment or something so she wasn't the person they told everyone about, but the person I'm thinking about definitely has narcolepsy and didnt get a bid.

I feel for you. And I'm so sorry your life changed so abruptly. Word of advice this site is BS. My very best advice to you is to realize your life has changed. Also that being a sorority sister is still possible. I can understand why you messaged on all the boards you were into. But you were caught and it doesn't look that great. My best advice would be, after you get acceptances (good luck!) is to contact panhellenic and not ask for special treatment but see how it effects you. Unfortunately not all houses handicapped accessible. If you are of the quality the sorority is looking for, they will invite you back. As for the first round they have to accommodate you. If it is in your family budget and it's that important to you then you could always pay for a ramp or get grant. My cousin did it that way a few years back.
