negative recs?
by: PnmSo I'm coming to UGA in the fall and I'm keeping an open mind about recruitment, but there's one girl from my high school who is already in a sorority here and she hates me. We've just never gotten along, and my older sister kinda stole her boyfriend their senior year, and I supported my sister so now this girl really hates me. She apparently told one of our mutual friends that she wrote me a negative rec for her sorority (which is considered top/lower top tier) and I just want to know how that will affect me. Will I automatically be cut from her chapter because of this? Can this affect my chances at other sororities? There's no one else I l've had any problems with like this, so I'm just worried how much one person can sabotage my changes during recruitment.

If she really wrote you a negative rec, you will almost 100% be cut from that house unfortunately. But unless she feels strongly enough to be talking about you to girls in other houses, you should be fine everywhere else. The other sororities won't have any way of knowing that she wrote you a negative rec unless someone tells them. I can't see other houses cutting you soley based off on one incident in the past between you and one girl from another sorority. Just make sure to keep that incident off social media and avoid talking about it during recruitment unless someone in her chapter asks you about it directly.

You're almost certainly being cut from her sorority, sorry. You still have 17 other houses!
This should NOT affect you at another houses, UNLESS she has a best friend or something in another house that has decided she hates you too. Other than that, no, she can't blacklist you from other houses. If she does affect your chance with one of her friend's houses, it won't be by a lot. Even if she has a best friend that writes a rec, it won't be as personal of a negative rec, and it will carry less weight.
