20 year year old freshman rushing

by: Non typical PNM

Ok basics: great grades and super involved in HS. Legacy.

The reason why I am a 20 year freshman is, I did 18 months of international missionary work. I wanted a break in between HS and college because I had no idea what to study and well I just wanted to do it. Anyway I grew up in the south and to be honest I did not think I ever wanted to be in a sorority. Well in my program I met other girls my age were going to rush when we were done, women who had just graduated and even women in their 30s and 40s who wild/good/fun times were well insane (Imagine when social media could not prove anything and it just lasted on old school film). These women were from all over the USA and even Canada. Because of this recs are not a problem. All I heard was how great could be. My mind is changed. I just want to know if being a 20 year pledge is really weird? I like to go out, have fun, and I do realize I will be with 18 year olds. In fact I'm living in Crewell with a friend I met in the same boat. Any opinions are welcomed!!

Here is how I see it. If you don't care about tiers and seems like you are a mixture between bible study and bar night then you should be fine. For the 10000000000th time keep your mind open. My advice is keep your experience on the less than 40% when it comes to convos. Its really cool you did what you did. Most houses will see that as a positive!!!!

That's actually a pretty cool thing to have on your resume. That's if you and your friend are chill living with and doing 18 year old stuff more power to you. Also there will probably be a few upperclassmen in your PC. Warning Creswell is one of the worst on campus. Tiny rooms and its always top hot or too cold.

You can definitely still get a bid. Even though you're considered a freshman, all the sororities have a required upperclassmen quota, so their would be a few other 19-20 year olds in you PC. Just don't be that weird freshman who is older than everyone else but still acts like a baby. I say this because my roommate last year had a similar situation and even though she had traveled a lot in her gap year to do mission work, she had no idea how to be a normal college student and she got cut from every house after house tours. So as long as you're not weird, you should still have a decent chance at getting a bid
