transfer rushing
by: TransferI'm transferring to UGA as a junior. In terms of my class standing, would I have any chance at getting into a half way decent fraternity or do the frats only and always take freshman exclusively? I don't know anyone who goes to school here, so I'd have no recommendations. I'm also from the north, which according to this site apparently seems like it matters. My Dad was in a frat that UGA has but he was never a UGA student, would that help me? Also what is Athens like? I have literally never been on campus. Thanks for any advice.

I'm transferring to but I'm in state. From what I've heard your chances of getting in to an old row fraternity are slim to none (includes KA SAE and a couple others). Kappa Sig used to be one of UGA's higher tier frats some years ago but they got kicked off campus. They've been back in Athens for like a year and need to get membership up so if you make a good impression with them they aren't really in the position to turn you down just for being older.

You likely won't get into the top tiers, pretty exclusively freshman/kids from certain areas in Georgia. But trust me, you can get into a few in that 2nd or 3rd tier. Damn good fraternities still. I rushed late and joined what most would consider a top 6-8 fraternity. Feel free to text a social chair or something, can't hurt at this point. Numbers/emails are on IFC website. Lot of people didn't even know how old I was til I told them anyways.
