by: PNMIf I know someone from a different college that is currently in a sorority, can I get them to write a rec for me? I know only 3 sororities accept recs from collegiate members, but what if I had a friend in one of those sororities at a different university? Will the sorority accept that letter of rec?

You just answered your own question. If a sorority accepts recs from collegians and you know a collegian who will write one then there you go. You must be thinking that the collegiate rec would come from someone within the chapter where you are rushing, which it wouldn't. Actives don't write recs for PNM's rushing at their own chapters.

A rec from an active/collegian means a rec from a member at another chapter. "Actives don't write recs for PNM's rushing at their own chapters."

1. If the sorority is one of the 3 sororities that accepts collegiate recs, then it doesn't matter what college the member goes to. For those 3 houses, you can get either an alum, a current member of the UGA chapter, or a current member of a different chapter of that sorority to write you a rec.
2. If the sorority is not one of the 3 sororities that accepts collegiate recs, then you cannot get a college student to write you a rec at all. The rec MUST come from an alum, and it doesn't matter where she attended college (she could be a UGA grad, and Alabama grad, a grad from a school in New York etc...)

Important note: at this point, it's against the rules for PNMs to talk to UGA sorority members about recruitment. So you can't reach out to any UGA students about recs. Girls at other colleges and alumni are fair game though. It's possible that a girl will write you a rec on her own, but you can't ask her to so don't count on it

This is the real information PNMs need to see. Please take the time to get recs. It's a great way to be introduced to a chapter.

Three chapters at UGA accept recs from actives. I guess I used confusing terminology. Im asking if I know an active from a different university, can they write me a rec? Or does it have to be an active at UGA?
