everyone here is a sheep
by: certified frat hater
Some jokes really do write themselves and the joke here is how stereotypical the reaction of people is to the adphi post which is to put the blame on sorority girls for interacting with them (and this is NOT the first time this has happened). As people in Greek life we should know that rituals and songs are kept secret so for people to assume that everyone just knows what those adphi songs are (and their existence) is really idiotic and to cut off Greek relations with one frat because of the songs (which the uoft adphi chapter is not even responsible for, their actual fraternity would be) all the frats would need to be cut off (which are not) for the actual acts of discrimination from their uoft chapter members. All of the frats at uoft have had some sort of accusation against them. In no way am I defending the adphis nor do I care for them (respectfully) but people really need to start looking at these issues in more depth and not just taking a narrative and running with it. While these songs exist, do they really portray the chapter membersβ views on women? And to those who call themselves the so called βactivistsβ of victims, donβt speak up for people unless they want to spoken up for and donβt assume their way of thinking. If you actually cared about victims you would focus on frats that have accusations against them and not make such a big fuss out of the songs that were written by random old white dudes.
But the hazing stories are crazyyyyyy I personally wouldnβt do that lmfao

How good that meat taste? Your perspective on this matter seems rather unusual. Acknowledging that these songs exist and are not unique to the Toronto chapter is one thing, but it was said before that they were actually sung by them. Even if we take the high road and ignore that they literally sang these songs, by merely being a part of adphi and joining AFTER singing these songs, there's an implicit endorsement of a culture that allows for such misogynistic content in their songbook. If their views did not align with such "music," why did they join? Aren't they the sheep then? This is not a trivial issue, I hope they better themselves as men and drop the frat before it's too late.
As someone who has personally faced challenges due to misogynistic organizations akin to adphi (but not literally), I'd suggest you reconsider your viewpoint. Empathy and understanding are crucial here. It's disheartening to see fellow sisters still continuing to support this group in light of such revelations. Their association and the resultant negative attention are, unfortunately, a predictable outcome of their choices, so it's deserved. Your stance seems to overlook the deeper systemic issues at play within these kinds of institutions.
I do agree that inherently these frats dont deserve to be on campus. Every frat guy tells me the same story - we aren't like the other frats, but that's just laughable. Every frat, including adphi, puts on a fake persona for us and how other sisters just don't realize that, especially aoii, is just depressing to me. Let's just cut all relations.
