that old gold article is factually incorrect. check both the school's greek site and the sigep national site and they are in fact recognized. Kappa Sig and SNU however are underground

what wrong in the article? It says nationals shut the colony. Maybe they later reversed their decision but then that's still doesn't mean the article was factually incorrect.

Every colony seeking a charter has a plan to reach a mutually agreed upon manpower number, agreed up on by the AVC, the undergraduate chapter, the staff, and the host institution.

How many guys does the colony need to get a charter? Why don't enough people join and/or stay?

Wake Forest Sigma Epsilon Chapter (SEC)
Two members of the now dormant Wake Forest SEC, Freddy Daley and Logan McLay petitioned the Board for reconsideration of its previous decision to close the SEC. The two brothers asked the Board to approve a 12 month window for the SEC to revise its membership and meet chartering requirements. They spoke of a small group of men committed to the Balanced Man Program and a different fraternity experience.
Freddie and Logan presented a one-year and three-year plan to sustain a high average GPA, improve their BMP and ensure full implementation, and implement a new recruitment strategy incorporating the Balanced Man Scholarship while continuing to increase standards. They went on to ensure a transparent process and constant communication with the Fraternity and the university.
Director Miller motioned the Board to extend the Wake Forest SEC 12 months to meet the chartering criteria with additional conditions in place: two attendees at Ruck, four attendees participating at Conclave, a revised BMP with plan to implement the program, an engaged balanced man steward approved by staff and the district governor, a proficient BMS in place, a strong standards board willing to hold members accountable, and lastly, honest and clear communication with the SigEp staff and university administration.

They have a lot of cliques. You can tell different guys don't like each other and only pretend to do so. Usually their parties consist of a bunch of girls dancing with each other while the guys stand around and drink. Several members have admitted to hating it. The TFM article "Why your frat sucks" for SigEp is a pretty accurate depiction of this chapter.

Not a SigEp so this is mostly unconfirmed but they had something happen where they had no clue how to perform a ritual that was pretty important to initiating their pledge class, all while a rep from their nationals was visiting them. The nationals guy flipped out and reported that they weren't practicing the rituals, and their charter got pulled. Half of them were too apathetic to care about the fraternity, the other half is what's left of them.
