pnms and sorority members please read
by: wake forest
Hi everyone,
I went on this website on a whim out of boredom from Christmas break, and I was appalled by some of the things that people have written. Writing mean things about each other is extremely immature, and really petty if you think about it. I got into my second choice sorority, but in my genuine opinion, if I had been offered a bid by ANY of the current sororities at Wake, I would have accepted. I honestly believe that, even though there are some sororities (such as the one I joined) that would fit me better than others, I would be able to find at least a few best friends for life in every single greek organization, which in the end is all that matters. I think Wake is unique among many schools in that there really isn't currently a sorority that either everyone wants to be in or that no one wants to be in, and that is something really special. To come on this site and see people trying to demean other sororities anonymously and for their own gain is disgusting. I ended up joining a sorority completely different from all the friends that I made first semester of freshman year, and I am still extremely close to all of those friends, even though they are in different organizations. Although yes, there is some competition among the sororities during rush, I wish the best for all the other groups on campus, as I hope that my friends in other sororities are able to get wonderful new members and potential friends, just as I want for my own sorority. For all the pnms reading things on this site, don't believe the majority of what you read. All the comments are either mean to try to hurt another sorority's prospects in rush because they are a threat to another group, nice because they are self-ranked, or nice and written by another sorority wants it people to think that sorority is self ranking. Very rarely are the nice posts actually written by other sororities in the name of sincerity.
Despite this, I genuinely believe that at Wake Forest, if you are hoping to go greek, any organization is worth joining. Each sorority has over 150 members; it would be absolutely impossible to join ANY group and not find a best friend. Joining a sorority has improved my grades tremendously, as I always have people to study with and upperclassmen to help me in classes that they have already taken (shout out to all my accounting tutors), and college has become so much more fun. We have formals, we have date functions, and we have philanthropy events that all add so much more meaning to my time at Wake. Just keep that in mind as you go through rush, and don't believe everything you read.
