Where does beta fall in the rankings? I've heard a bunch of different things but most say its top

Imma say top- either even with Kappa or slightly ahead.

Never heard anyone describe it as anything but a top.

Betas don’t seem to care much what people think. Maybe too cool? But they aren’t on sites doing PR like some others.

If that is one of your options go for it.
