This is probably not gonna be the answer you want to hear. Recruitment is incredibly complicated and is essentially an algorithm, so every sorority is going to make their biggest cuts on different days. It all depends on how they are performing. So it’s mostly up in the air.
What I can tell you is that if you are invited back to a sorority for pref, that is almost a guarantee that you are going to receive a bid as long as you have two back for preference night. This is how it works:
Sororities agree that for pref they will only invite back girls that they are interested in giving bids. The night of pref, PNMs make their decision. If you put down BOTH orgs you have left you are pretty much a guarantee you will be placed into a sorority. How does this work?
After pref night, all of the PNM preferences and the sorority decisions are put through the algorithm they have been using all week. But things are slightly different now: the sororities have the upper hand. Based on the preference of pnm Jane, she will either be placed in house ABC or house XYZ. Let’s say ABC is her first choice. ABC wants to extend her a bid, so the two are matched together.
If ABC does not extend her a bid, and she is is extended a bid by XYZ, she will be placed with XYZ.
So what happens if neither org gives her a bid? For the time being, that PNM is put on hold. Once the first function is finished, panhel will run another function placing these girls in houses (as long as this PNM has no red flags such as saying something in appropriate during pregnancy night). Based on who hasn’t met quota and still has room in their houses, further selections are made.
So pnm Jane was not selected by ABC or XYZ. ABC has not met the cap on how many girls they can take. So, Jane is placed with them.
Here is why your GRCs so desperately want you to put both orgs you have left down on your pref sheet. If you do not put both down, you do not get to go through the second function and will not be placed in a house. By putting only one down, you are limiting your opportunity to be in a sorority.
So pls pls pls, from a former GRC, put both down. If you end up not liking the house you got a week into school, you can drop and rerush next year or COB.
