Rush question/ srat rush
by: Class of 2024Hi. I’m a rising freshman from the Midwest. I am concerned because I don’t know anyone coming into Wake. If I don’t get a bid to a sorority will my social life be terrible at Wake?

It's possible to have a solid social life at wake without joining Greek life, even though this site will tell you otherwise.
Additionally, if you maximize your options during rush, you will most likely get a bid to a sorority at Wake, and each provide opportunities to have a good social life. Like the previous commenter said, rush here is pretty chill. As long as you stick with the process during rush week and don't "suicide" on pref night, you'll be fine :)

your social life will be fine, most friend groups end up sticking to together and are a mix of sororities, and a lot of sororities are moving toward rushing entire friend groups. also girls can get into any party no problem, so you can just show up with your friends. you’ll have a whole semester to meet people at parties, in class, and just walking around. there’s no need to stress about it

Like the comment above, rush is all connections based. Luckily, you have the entire first semester to get to know people. If you come into wake knowing that you want to be in a sorority and you don’t get into one then it will suck. It will suck, but you can definitely find a social scene outside of Greek life you’ll just have to search for it.
