is rush just a big joke?
by: wakegirli get the feeling that all the sororities already know who they want and this was decided first semester
#1by: Dont stress
It can seem really intimidating and like some people already have a “spot” in a sorority but that is so not the case. All decisions for bids are made based on convos during rush week and how you click with the girls at that time. It’s basically illegal for sororities to make up their lists ahead of time and everyone makes an effort to get to know all the girls rushing, not just a handful

Some sororitys have girls that they've been rushing all semester but that may only be a portion of their (50 or so) pledge class. And that may not mean anything once recruitment starts. BUT make sure you keep an open mind because I know last year some girls had their heart set on their top choice only to get dropped. There are great girls in ALL sororities so don't limit yourself.

Also, what sorority you choose matters for about six weeks and then everyone comes back together. With the exception of housing and chuck colors, there is no difference between a Beta and a Theta. In my circle, I have close friends in kbg, kappa, ddd, kd and theta. Not the others, only because I haven’t gotten to know anyone from those sororities yet. Everyone is friends so don’t let people convince you otherwise!

Some girls will have their hearts set on a sorority, but they’re scared they won’t know anyone or they’re afraid to leave their friends. Just remember you’ve only known people for one semester and you should be making decisions for you and only you! Good luck to everyone!

Also, not to scare anyone but do not get your hopes up in general. I know several girls who went through the process and were dropped by almost all sororitys, (which is surprising because each of the pnms are amazing girls individually). That being said, come into rush with an open mind, make your own choices. If you don’t feel at home with the options you have, don’t feel pressured to choose one because everyone else is joining. Lots of girls/guys aren’t in Greek life, and it’s not the end all be all like people on this site make it out to be. You are a wonderful individual with or without Greek life and don’t let it define you! :) good luck!
