super competitive for guys?
by: Wfu22So I’m really looking forward to rushing and am trying to get into a good fraternity, but no one from my high school who goes to Wake is in one. Is that gonna hurt my chances? And do I need to be making friends with recruitment chairs, etc first semester so I’ll have a chance? Also what is rush week like for guys? Thanks in advance

Rush week is an afterthought for guys. By then you either are choosing between 2, locking in 1, or know you won’t get a bid anywhere. All of the actual rushing for guys happens first semester by getting onto email lists and meeting brothers at parties. If you don’t know at least 10+ brothers before second semester in a particular fraternity you probably won’t be getting a bid there. It’s competitive but don’t force anything and you’ll fare better than you think.

Forgot to add: meeting rush chairs is important but just regular brothers have just as much say in who gets a bid as rush chairs. Rush chairs are simply there to send out the rush emails/ form lists..etc. my point is, meet everyone and don’t treat some brothers as more important than others as they all will have a say in deciding who gets bids.
